Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division claims to hold its main defence line and to have killed 1500 enemy, on July 4; that the 276th Infantry Division is to be relieved by the Panzer Lehr Division by July 5; that Keitel supports the release of motor transport to the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) West, but with no corresponding fuel increase, on June 25; and a report on the new setting up of the 9th, 11th and 19th Panzer Divisions, on June 25; on Southeast Europe: that German Air Force (GAF) reconnaissance shows landing craft are in Brindisi and Taranto, prompting fear of assault undertakings against the Dalmatian coast islands, on July 2; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese minister in Bucharest, passing on the views of the Roumanian vice-premier on the war, on June 28; from the Saudi Arabian minister in London, describing flying bomb raids on London, on July 3; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, giving the views of the German ambassador on Germany's war strategy, on July 1; from the Japanese consul-general in Vienna, regarding flying bombs, on June 21; and on German development of a secret rocket-shell weapon, from 1943 April 25; T235/101 was sent to the Prime Minister (PM) under 7001.
