Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on France: of heavy fighting south-east of Tilly; on the German line running from north-west of Carpiquet-Chateau Marcelet-La Byude-the railway north of Mouento Noyers-the east edge of Vendes-the centre of Juvigny, on June 27; a situation report for June 26, noting heavy fighting in an area of penetration east of Juvigny, and that the Allies penetrated north-west of Hottot after heavy artillery preparation; battle reports for June 26 from the 12th SS Division; the 1st SS Panzer Corps; and the 21st Panzer Division, covering Allied artillery preventing German assembly of forces, and stating that attacks on the left wing are broadening; and situation reports for June 26, detailing Allied reinforcements east of the Orne; and a German assessment that the Allies intend to by-pass Caen by breaking through east of the Orne.
