A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: a battle report for the Cherbourg area from the 709th Infantry Division, for June 20; that the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division requests German Air Force (GAF) fighter support as Allied fighter-bombers are interfering with the division's supply and troop movements, on June 19; and that 36 Allied gliders have been observed near Liesville, north-west of Carentan, since June 17; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, a report of June 17 on information obtained from the German Embassy, that the German Army has been cracking down on Resistance forces in the St Flour area since June 16; a short item on the V-1 attacks against London since June 16; and a summary of the fighting in France since the Allied invasion; from the Siamese ambassador in Tokyo, a report of June 16 on the first air raid against Tokyo on June 15, that the Japanese town of Mikura was also bombed by 20 aircraft coming from China, and that these events, combined with the Allied landing on Saipan, were causing tension in Japan; and from the Turkish military attaché in Budapest, describing the results of Allied air raids on Budapest and other Hungarian towns, on June 15.
