Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: the concluding part of a situation report of June 18 by the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) for the South-west assessing the combat potential of his remaining units, naming the strongest unit as the 114th Jaeger Division, and the weakest as the 94th Infantry Division, stating that the remaining main objective was to hold territory as far south-west of the Apennines as possible, and Kesselring goes on to demand Hitler's backing; that the 15th and 90th Panzer Grenadier Divisions are to withdraw again overnight on June 19/20; and of further withdrawals on the main Italian Front by the 1st Parachute Corps and the Hermann Goering Division, on the night of June 19/20.
