This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that the Commandant on Elba considered the situation hopeful, with the enemy forces only at Marina di Campo, on June 17; of enemy landings on Elba, with the situation most hopeful, on June 17; and a 15th Panzer Grenadier Division report, for June 16, stating the division is to retreat to a new line at night; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese Ministry of the Interior representative in Berlin, that German morale is not affected by the second front, as of June 13; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, passing on a German assessment of the Allied landings, on June 14; from the Turkish minister in Sofia, that Bulgaria is under pressure from the Soviets, on June 12; and on Spain: of the reaction to the Allied landing, on June 16; report no. 193 is not included.
