A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: of the 21st Panzer Division's intentions for June 16, to thrust in the Troarn area; a Flak Corps III report on fighting in the Tilly area, on June 16; the Sea Defence Commandant for Normandy reports the situation is more critical; that battle group von Schlieben is withdrawing to the fortress; and on an Allied break-though west of St Mere Eglise, on June 16; that the 7th Army enquires as to the feasibility of the transport of supplies from the south to St Malo, Granville and Cherbourg, on June 15; that Group West expects an invasion of Holland and Belgium during the night, on June 16; of a partial withdrawal by the Hitler Jugend Division in the Caen area, on June 16; that an unspecified corps suffers numerous air attacks, on June 15; that the 2nd SS Division is being brought up from south southeast of Caumont; of an raid on Bordeaux Merignac airfield, in which 10 aircraft were destroyed and 11 damaged, on June 15; and that the Germans assess the Maquis as an organised military force is to be dealt with only with mobile heavy weapons, on June 15, and noting details of the operations of the Maquis since D Day; on South Europe: of an Allied landing on Elba on June 17; a 42nd Jaeger Division report of guerilla activity in northwest Italy, on June 16; and the Armee Abteilung von Zangen report sabotage and guerilla activity in northern Italy, on June 13.
