A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on France: a situation report for June 9 from the 84th Corps; that the 716th Division has lost two thirds of its strength; that the Germans expect to have destroyed the Allied divisions east of Caen during the night of June 8-9; that heavy Allied air raids are taking a toll, with men showing signs of nervous exhaustion; that the German station command at Carpiquet are said to have lost their heads, with the airfield having been inefficiently blown up, on June 9; that the thorough destruction of Cherbourg harbour was ordered on June 10; of orders for the immediate destruction of airfields at Guipavas, Lanvveoc, Morlaix and Dinard, on June 10; of complaints by the 2nd Air Corps that inadequate communications are hampering operations, on June 9; on indications of a move of the SS Panzer Division Das Reich, on June 9; and strong bands of heavily-armed guerrillas are reported to be operating against Germans in the Rhone Valley, on June 10.
