Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on France: outlining the Normandy front line on June 10; of an Allied tank thrust towards Fontenay; a situation report for June 9-10, giving the front line, that Allied shipping are off a landing area north of the Vire Estuary, north of Grandcamp, and west of Le Havre; of the transfer of the 2nd Parachute Corps, the 3rd Parachute Division and the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division to the St Lo area; that the German Admiral for the Atlantic concludes that the slow and hesitant Allied progress may indicate another landing is planned for another point; and that the Brest Arsenal was asked to supply anti-gas equipment urgently, on June 8.
