Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: the defence commandant for Normandy reports that tanks landed between Vire and Orne, on June 6; of further landings in France, and that 600 parachutists are near Turqueville, on June 6; and of a battle with parachute troops in the areas of Caen, Carentan and Le Havre, on June 6; on South Europe: the German Air Force (GAF) report about 800 British parachutists dropped behind the 10th Army on June 2; a 2nd Air Fleet situation report, for June 5, stating that the Allies are across the River Aniene; and of the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division being short of fuel and ammunition and exhausted, on June 5.
