A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of the planned withdrawal of the 26th Panzer Division overnight on May 30/31; and battle reports from the Italian Front for May 30, covering Allied penetrations in several areas, the most notable being in the sector of the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division where a battle for the town of Carpineto was in progress; Naval Headlines, covering a signal to all U-boats in the Atlantic on May 30 warning of improved Allied anti-submarine capability; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, a report of May 28 following conversations with Ribbentrop and Hitler the previous day, passing on the German assessment of the Allied second front preparations and the likely location for the operation, the status of the German war effort to date and her future plans, and saying that the ambassador knew little of Japan's war plans and so was unable to answer Hitler's questions.
