Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the Germans are to destroy all installations at their coastal airfield at Orbetello, south-west of Elba, on May 27; of further withdrawals by the 90th Panzer Grenadier and 44th Divisions, on May 27; of the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division probably being withdrawn from the frontline by May 27, and of other units also partially withdrawing; a 10th Army report for May 27, noting that Allied fighter-bombers are blocking all German movements, and that the German air defence is grossly inadequate; that the 1st Parachute Corps is to further withdraw overnight on May 27/28; that the German Navy considers a planned commando operation against Lagosta on May 29 a non-starter; and that Hvar Island was evacuated according to plan overnight on May 24/25; and Naval Headlines.
