Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the Hermann Goering Division, previously held in the Leghorn area as a reserve of the German Supreme Command, is now heading south to Rome and suffering heavy losses from incessant Allied air attacks, on May 27; that the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division and the 1st Parachute Corps continue to withdraw, on May 26; and more battle reports from the Italian Front, for May 26; on Western Europe: of an acute strike situation in Marseilles, on May 27; and Naval Headlines.
