Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 51st Mountain Corps orders withdrawal movements, on May 25; that the 334th Division was ordered to the Southern Front on May 24 but was still in the north on May 25; further battle reports from Italy, describing the Allies being halted by the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division on the northern beachhead but considerable German losses in the 362nd Division; 4 further reports from the Italian campaign, for May 24/25; reports from the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division; the 305th Division; and the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division; a situation report from the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) for the South-west for May 22/23, disclosing the Germans are in retreat in several areas in the face of superior Allied forces, and the results of Allied air raids; and that the 278th Division takes over the Adriatic coastal sector, from May 25.
