Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of the 1st Parachute Corps' main defensive line on the beachhead, on May 24; a German High Command propaganda report for May 23, giving suggested reasons for the slackening of the Allied air offensive against the Reich, and detailing a major evacuation operation from Crimea to Romania of soldiers, local inhabitants and prisoners, totalling some 125,000 by sea and some 20,000 by air, with no reaction from the Soviet Navy; Naval Headlines for May 21, which includes 6 items from U-boat communications including an instruction of May 18 containing details of a German plan to employ U-boats against the impending Allied invasion, particularly once D-Day was known; with a query from the Prime Minister (PM) to the First Sea Lord (ISL); and a reply concerning Allied counter-measures.
