Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Italy: battle reports for May 23 from the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division, stating that one battalion has been wiped out, that the situation is very grave, that Pontecorvo is being evacuated, that the new line runs from San Giovanni to Ponte Rogno, and that Terracina has to be evacuated; battle reports for May 23 from the 76th Panzer Corps; that the 94th Infantry Division is being subordinated to the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division; that Allied attacks were repulsed but the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division and 305th Division are withdrawing on orders from the Corps to the line running through Pastena; battle reports from the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division for May 23, describing a heavy Allied attack north of Terracina; and that the Allies are in possession of Sonnino; of the intentions of the 76th Panzer Corps to throw in Tiger tanks to combat an Allied tank-supported attack west of Cisterna; of the new Divisional boundaries of the 65th Infantry Division, on May 23; and battle reports from the 715th Division for May 23, noting that a counter attack broke down under heavy Allied artillery fire.
