Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on Italy: that the point of the main fighting is still in the Pontecorvo and Piedimonte sector, with a further attack expected in the direction of Pontecorvo, on May 23; of lively Allied air activity in front of the 51st Mountain Corps; the 114th Jaeger Division reports a supply road being badly damaged in air raids; the 26th Panzer Division reports that an Allied attack supported by tanks smashed through the central sector of the Division, that the main defence of the Division's right wing collapsed, that Pico was evacuated, and that the Division's defence line runs from Monte Castello to Santa Lucia; battle reports for May 22 from the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division; the 94th Infantry Division; and the 715th Division; that the 94th Division is constructing a new line of resistance, on May 22; battle reports for May 22 from the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division; the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division; and the 1st Parachute Division; that the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division is subordinated to the 51st Corps with effect from May 23; of the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division's boundary on the left being with the 94th Infantry Division and on the right with the 715th Infantry Division, on May 22; of a request from the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division for fighter protection against continuous Allied fighter-bomber attacks, on May 22; and that the 334th Infantry Division's right boundary is with staff of the rear HQ of the 305th Infantry Division with the 993rd Infantry Regiment of the 278th Infantry Division, and that its flak areas are from Francavilla on the Adriatic southwards, on May 22.
