Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on Italy: the 51st Corps reports the main weight of fighting is at Piedimonte; that all attacks have been repulsed; that artillery is supporting the defence in the Ponte Corvo area; and on the movements of the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division, 94th Infantry Division and 44th Infantry Division, on May 20; of the 26th Panzer Division being forced to withdraw from the line from Pico-Pontecorvo; and of the Allies occupying Monte Leucio, on May 21; that the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division took over a sector from the 44th Division on May 20; a report from the Regional Command at Spezia, on damage caused in heavy air raids, on May 19; a summary of the Italian railways damaged in air raids prior to May 18; of damage to the main line east of Genoa, on May 19; a report from the 118th Jaeger Division noting the concentration of shipping in Bari anticipates the possibility of Allied landings on the Italian east coast or on the coast of Dalmatia, on May 17; Army Group von Zangen reports that through rail traffic has been blocked by an air raid on Rezzato station east-south-east of Brescia, on May 17; and a situation report from the Commander in Chief (CinC) for the South West for May 19, stating that Allied attacks on supply routes extended as far south as Bologna with some bridges being badly damaged.
