This file includes the following reports: BONIFACE summaries for Mr Loxley (see also 6528); on Italy: a German report of the Polish flag flying over the Cassino monastery, on May 18; that the 94th Division's front line indicates an Allied advance of 4-5 miles, on May 18; that air raids on Piombino cause damage and destruction to many small vessels, on May 17; that Allied air raids on Elba cause devastation, on May 17; of severe rail damage caused in air raids on Perugia and Ancona, on May 18; of the German Army's difficulties in bringing up supplies from Armyn Forward Supply Bases, on May 15; on the German defence position at the western point of the Gulf of Gaeta, on May 18; of Allied artillery hampering German forces regrouping south-east of Pontecorvo; that the 26th Panzer Division moved from the bridgehead to a position on the west coast on the night of May 17-18; that the 188th Division took over the sector of the 278th Division in the Coastal Sector in Istria, on May 18; that the 305th Infantry Division has transferred from the Adriatic Coastal Sector to the Pastena area west of Cassino; that the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division is to take over a position from the 71st Division south of the Liri River; and the Germans report nausea and vomiting being caused by the detonation of new Allied smoke shells, with samples to be taken for chemical analysis.
