A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western and Southern Europe: the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) West reports that an Indian volunteer company is being formed out of the 950th Indian Infantry Regiment for fighting on the Italian Front, on May 5; with Churchill's query and a response from the Chief of the Imperial General Staff (CIGS); and that according to the C-in-C West serious damage was caused at Mailly Le Camp in an air raid on the night of May 3; on Western Europe: on the continuation of an anti-invasion exercise in the Pas De Calais area referred to in a previous report, on May 7, 9 and 10; and of an Axis steamship being mined off the west Frisian islands on May 11; on the Russian Front: on arrangements for German Air Force (GAF) long-range bomber units to move from central Russia to Romania to support the defensive battle in Sevastopol, on May 10; on Southern Europe: of the order of battle of the Hermann Goering Panzer Regiment, stating that a full establishment of tanks cannot be adhered to owing to production difficulties, on May 6; that a regiment subordinated to the 715th Division was 50% under strength on May 2; and that the 94th Infantry Division claims an Allied attack was repulsed, on May 11; on South-east Europe: the enemy is reported to have evacuated Solta on May 10; and the remainder of the Japanese naval attaché in Berlin's report (ULTRA) on British, U.S. and Soviet morale and war materials, on March 29 sic.
