Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: of the German need for reinforcement of the E-boats in the Adriatic to counter Allied landings; of commando operations and the shipping of supplies, on April 26; and that clarification is requested on the move of the 117th Jaeger Division from the Peloponnese to Bosnia, on April 27; on West Europe: of damage caused to a German Air Force (GAF) airfield at Dijon and aircraft losses in an Allied raid, on April 26; on the Southern Russian Front: of a request for reinforcement of the Flak forces in view of Hitler's order to defend Sevastopol tenaciously, on April 27; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, noting talks between Hitler and Mussolini, and that Turkey bans the export of chrome to Germany, on April 24; on Northern Italy: a Vichy French intelligence report, from April 27; and GUNPOWDER 16 was sent to Mr Loxley (see 6387).
