Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: on the 1st Parachute Corps' defensive battle against the enemy, who had broken in, on April 24; of the 65th Infantry Division's front line; that the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division takes heavy losses trying to hold the enemy penetration; and of the 1st Parachute Division at Cassino expecting strong attacks, on April 24; on South-east Europe: of the 2nd Panzer Army's defence policy for Dalmatia, on March 26, with the coast being the main defence line, and the islands to be held to the last; on the South Russian Front: that the 9th Flak Division lost 374 guns during the withdrawal to Sevastopol, on April 15; Naval Headlines; and from the Japanese naval attaché in Berlin, on the imminence of a second front, on April 17; and describing the situation in Croatia, as at April 17.
