Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: that the 5th SS Corps seeks air support for troops encircled on Korcula, but the German Air Force (GAF) is unable to help, on April 23; and that the Germans are to counter-attack on Korcula, on April 23; on Germany: that a factory at Aachen was destroyed in an air raid, on April 18; on South-east and South Europe: that the German High Command asks when Bulgarian officers and NCOs will be detached to Italy, on April 19; Naval Headlines, covering that the Germans claim heavy Allied losses on Mljet Island in the Adriatic; and from the Turkish Legation in Bucharest, on the difficult Roumanian military situation, as at April 20.
