Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) for the Southwest seeks approval for measures to supply personnel to keep the Italian railways in working order, on April 14; on South-east Europe: a German Air Force (GAF) report of damage caused by a raid on airfields near Belgrade, on April 16; the GAF in Roumania report on an Allied raid on Ploesti and Bucharest, on April 15; reports that the German Navy are to set up an E-boat base on Corfu, on April 1 and 11; and of an Allied raid on Nish, on April 16; Naval Headlines; and from the Portuguese charg� in Bucharest, on Roumania's plight, and stating that the army is to stand alongside the Germans, on April 12.
