This file includes the following correspondence: a request by the Prime Minister (PM) to C for BONIFACE messages about the German defence forces on the Riviera coast, on April 3; from the Japanese military attaché in Vichy, on German anti-invasion preparations in France and the Low Countries, as explained by Runstedt's chief of staff, on February 17; forwarding information from General Blumentritt on the defence of southern France, on February 26; and that a large force of infantry and armour is in reserve in France under Rommel, on February 28; the Chief of the Imperial General Staff's (CIGS's) comments, on March 29; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, giving a German explanation of defence installations in the south of France, on April 1; and 6178, which was sent to General Eisenhower.
