Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that the Tirpitz was hit by bombs in an air raid on April 3; and that the German Air Force (GAF) regional command at Chartres orders the dispersal of parked aircraft because of losses from enemy attacks, on March 31; on South Europe: that Kesselring requests two road repair units to deal with air attack damage to roads, on March 31; and that Allied attacks on artillery during March have markedly reduced the fire power of the 10th and 14th Armies, on March 31; on South-east Europe: a GAF command situation report for April 2, noting an air raid on Brod; a report from the GAF in Croatia, on March 30, detailing the Brod railway line being blown up by guerillas in nearly 200 places; on Roumania: that the GAF can destroy its own equipment in the face of the Soviets, but is forbidden to destroy Roumanian installations at the request of the Roumanian head of state, on April 2; Naval Headlines for April 2; further Naval Headlines; from the Irish minister in Rome, giving German views of the Allied strategy in Italy, on April 1; from the Turkish ambassador in Bucharest, that the Roumanian Prime Minister denies making peace overtures to the Allies, on March 29; from the Greek chargé in Ankara to the Greek government in Cairo, describing Turkish alarm at the Soviet advance into Roumania and the threat to the Balkans, on March 30; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, passing on German information on measures to deal with Hungary, and on the occupation by German troops, on March 24; and from the Portuguese chargé in Bucharest, on the Soviet advance, and that the government may evacuate Bucharest, on March 31.
