A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: status reports from 4 German units fighting in Italy, for March 18; that the 14th Panzer Corps is to attempt to recapture the railway station at Cassino; on the results of an Allied air raid against Gorizia airfield near Trieste, on March 18; and that the Germans stress the importance of defending the Dalmatian island of Vis, on March 17; on Western Europe: a German Air Force (GAF) in Berlin appraisal of Allied air raids against Vienna and the Rhineland, on March 17/18; on the Russian Front: that the German Navy appeals for fighter protection after heavy shipping losses following Russian air strikes against the Ochakov area, on March 16; that German forces retreat on the Southern Front in the face of a Russian onslaught, on March 17; and on the locations of the trainborne command post of the GAF 4th Air Fleet, as of March 17/18.
