A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that according to the 75th Army Corps the Hermann Goering Division is moving to northern Italy for rest and refit, on March 8; that elements of the 1st Parachute Division now on the Italian Front are to be sent to the Brest area, on March 4; of San Stefano being heavily bombed by Allied raids on March 7; a further report of damage to San Stefano on March 4; that according to the 1st Parachute Corps severe damage was caused by the Allies to the Rome railway and the gas supply to Rome and to the Vatican, on March 7; of two ex-Italian assault craft being fired on and damaged by German landing craft off Pisa, on March 8; and a final monthly report for February 1944 from the 3rd Unit J53 on the operations it carried out, on March 5; on South-east Europe: that 140 survivors from a destroyer landed on Crete, on March 8; that German Air Force (GAF) reconnaissance in the eastern Mediterranean is now only practicable by day, on March 7; and of evidence of a shortage of equipment for Italian transport aircraft leaving the factory, on March 4.
