Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of the 362nd Infantry Division sorting out formations and building up a defensive front, with strong Allied air attacks reported, on March 2; bridgehead battle reports for March 2; that the Germans appreciate from prisoners that the U.S. have adopted a new formation of bombers against German defences, on March 2; Naval Headlines, including the Far East; from a representative of the Japanese Ministry of the Interior in Berlin, describing Allied air raids on Berlin, on February 27; from the Mexican ambassador in London, noting air raids on London, on February 29; the Persian Legation in London reports a news bulletin, on February 28; and from the Turkish ambassador in Moscow, giving the Soviet view of Churchill's speech, on February 29.
