Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: a 26th Panzer Division report for February 15; of the 51st Mountain Corps preparing to attack Allied shipping in Ortona harbour, on February 15; of bomber units of the 2nd Air Fleet preparing for a large-scale bombing attack against Allied positions in the Nettuno/Anzio beachhead area during the night of February 15/16, and that close support aircraft would support the German Army units in the area; of German naval operations in the Adriatic, for the period of February 11-13, noting a lack of coal to fuel ships; the 1st Para Corps' report for the night of February 12/13, detailing Allied bombing and/or shelling attacks on the Rome, Nettuno and Aprilia areas; and of SS personnel postings, on February 10, with a possible first reference to the 7th SS Corps.
