A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division in the main front, in the 14th Corps' sector, is to be relieved by the 71st Infantry Division, on February 10; that the Admiral for the Adriatic instructs all subordinate units on February 7 to release all combat personnel for the front, replacing them with civilian workers (particularly women), volunteer helpers and prisoners of war; of an urgent requirement for additional anti-aircraft artillery to defend 8 listed German ports in the Adriatic, on February 9; a damage assessment given on February 9 following a recent Allied raid on the port of Khios; that on February 10 the German Air Force (GAF) South-east Command questions a GAF HQ in Berlin order of February 7 giving the GAF in Hungary authority to upgrade the GAF organisation there and also to train Hungarian Air Force units - GAF South-east Command puts in a bid to play a major role in future GAF operations in Hungary based on its experience in the Balkans, particularly with regard to bomber units and the preparation of airfields in the face of Hungarian passive resistance; and on the Russian Front: of GAF reconnaissance results for February 9 over an area to the south of Pinsk, which suggest a considerable widening to the north, towards Pripet, of the Russian salient into central Poland.
