This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: of an Allied air attack on a Swedish ship at Chios, on February 7; and a German Air Force (GAF) Command for the Southeast situation report for February 8; on South Europe: on the losses of a GAF fighter unit now in north Italy, on February 3; on the Southern Russian Front: of Army Group A's situation, on the morning of February 6, including the Soviets thrusting southwards against the 6th Army to cut off the German bridgehead; a report for the evening of February 6, noting that Army Group South's counter-attacks failed; that the German Navy plans a base at Arabat Bay, in Crimea, on February 6; a 4th Air Fleet report, for February 5, noting that bombers are supplying the 6th Army; and a 4th Air Fleet report for February 7, detailing supplies to the 6th Army; Naval Headlines (see 5705); and the Spanish ambassador in Washington exchanges telegrams with the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, regarding continued U.S. pressure on Spain, on February 1-2.
