Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South-east Europe: of an Allied air attack on a Swedish ship at Chios, on February 7; and a German Air Force (GAF) Command for the Southeast situation report for February 8; on South Europe: on the losses of a GAF fighter unit now in north Italy, on February 3; on the Southern Russian Front: of Army Group A's situation, on the morning of February 6, including the Soviets thrusting southwards against the 6th Army to cut off the German bridgehead; a report for the evening of February 6, noting that Army Group South's counter-attacks failed; that the German Navy plans a base at Arabat Bay, in Crimea, on February 6; a 4th Air Fleet report, for February 5, noting that bombers are supplying the 6th Army; and a 4th Air Fleet report for February 7, detailing supplies to the 6th Army; Naval Headlines (see 5705); and the Spanish ambassador in Washington exchanges telegrams with the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, regarding continued U.S. pressure on Spain, on February 1-2.
