Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: of Kesselring's plans for a counter-attack against the Anzio landing to take place on February 1 at the earliest; on Germany: of the Commander in Chief of the German Air Force's (C-in-C GAF's) concern that unit markings reveal the order of battle and strength to the Allies, on January 13; and a GAF appreciation of the relative merits of U.S. escort fighters, on February 3.
