Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: of the Germans assembling divisions near Lake Albano, south of Rome, on January 28; of indications of the 51st Mountain Corps moving towards the south of Italy, on January 27; of the 51st Mountain Corps' staff transferring, on January 27; of the 2nd Air Fleet's orders for reconnaissance of the Anzio bridgehead on January 29; of a German Navy demolition at Civita Vecchia; that regional commandants are to report on block ships at north Italian ports, on January 27; and that the coastal railway northwest of Trieste was blown up, on January 26; and Naval Headlines. This file also includes the following correspondence: from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, detailing peremptory demands from Hitler to Petain on the French governmental reconstruction, on January 22; and an ultimatum from Ribbentrop on Petain's proposed changes to the French constitution, on December 5; the Prime Minister (PM) says that the Foreign Secretary is to see this; and a note by Eden.
