Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 94th Division is to close a gap in the defence front in the Minturno area on January 21; that German midget submarines were to operate against an Allied landing beachhead near Gaeta on the night of January 20/21 but the operation was subsequently cancelled, however an operation against Naples harbour was possible for the night of January 20/21; of the results of Allied air raids on the port of Piombino on January 18; that Hvar Island was captured by the Germans by January 20; and that a ship en route from Palermo to Vis Island with supplies for Yugoslav partisans was captured by an E-boat on January 10 but was subsequently sunk in the harbour during an Allied air attack; and on Norway: of 2 German vessels being hit during Allied air attacks off Norway.
