Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division is moving down to the left sector of the 94th Division on the Garigliano Front and was to counter-attack on January 20 to restore the main defence line, reported on January 19; that large-scale undertakings are expected on the Garigliano front on January 19; that the Germans are expecting an attack on January 18 by the 1st and 5th Canadian Divisions along the coast; on January 19, the 10th Army reported heavy fighting on the west coast sector, and that the Allies had made gains in the face of stiff German resistance; of the results of an Allied air raid on Poggibonsi, on January 18; and that a week ago there were almost no gun spare parts remaining for the German forces fighting in Italy.
