Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 26th Panzer Division in Italy was expecting an Allied attack against it on January 17; that the Germans decide against using parachutists in the operation against Vis Island in the Dalmatians, because there are insufficient troops available to have a permanent military presence there; and that Hitler orders an enquiry into large shipping losses during an Allied air raid against Piraeus on January 11; on the Russian Front: that the Germans are in great trouble on the Dnieper Front on January 17, it being impossible for any more troops to be withdrawn from the area; slight German advances are reported between Uman and Vinnitsa; and of Russian penetration just to the west of Kirovograd, on January 17.
