A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Mr Loxley's copy of a BONIFACE summary; on Southern Europe: that a special operation directed against Allied shipping in Naples harbour is to take place during the night of January 17/18; that the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division was being replaced in northern Italy by the 26th Panzer Division and was to deploy into the southern part of Italy; of 7 labour battalions being sent into the 10th Army's area to develop defensive positions; that Civita Vecchia harbour had been severely damaged and that at Nettuno partially damaged by Allied air raids; that Brac Island was in German hands by January 17; that German naval authorities were expecting little opposition during the planned landings on Vis Island; that the 2nd Panzer Army could use parachute troops in the Vis operation; on the planned disposition of the 5th SS Mountain Corps' units during the forthcoming rest period; and a summary of German operations against guerrillas in Greece, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Albania, on January 16; and on the Russian Front: of 2 German divisions being transferred from the Leningrad Front to the sector south-west of Berdichev.
