A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: BONIFACE summaries for the Deputy Prime Minister (PM), Mr Loxley and General Ismay - the first 2 copies had the SUNSET section deleted, and General Ismay's copy was marked as personal for the PM, probably on his return from abroad; a BONIFACE report on Southern Europe: that the Germans are aware that an Allied landing is planned for the night of January 23/24 in Astacos Bay, north of the entrance to the Gulf of Patras, and that Agrinion airfield was to be destroyed beforehand; and that a German convoy of small ships carrying troops from Lemnos to Salonika was hit and badly damaged by a severe storm on January 13; on the Russian Front: of the Germans dismantling technical equipment and cranes in Nikolaev and passing them to the Romanians in an attempt to ensure Romanian cooperation; and a SUNSET report, containing 3 appreciation paragraphs on the position of the German Air Force (GAF) on the Russian Front, suggesting that the force was preparing to withdraw westwards in the face of overwhelming Russian superiority.
