Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE report for Mr Loxley; a BONIFACE report for the Deputy Prime Minister (PM); a BONIFACE report from the Code and Cypher School (CSS) to Hut 3 signalled as SLICK 28 to the PM; a draft signal from London to Crawshaw, from the PM to General Wilson referring to a specific report; on Southern Europe: six battle reports for Italy for January 9, including the expectation of Allied attacks near Orsogna; that the 71st Infantry Division is to be subordinated to the 10th Army and relieved by the 162nd Division, on January 10; and of naval damage caused by Allied air attacks on Pola, Ancona and on the Neretva estuary, on January 9 and 10; on South-east Europe: that the food situation on Chios was described by the Swedish vice-consul as catastrophic, on January 9; and that Tito has ordered the defence of Vis island, on January 9; on the Russian Front: an Army Group South review for January 8; and that the German Air Force (GAF) are to reconnoitre a suspected Russian move south-eastwards, on January 9.
