A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE report for Mr Loxley; a BONIFACE report for the Deputy Prime Minister (PM); a BONIFACE report from the Code and Cypher School (CSS) to Hut 3 signalled as SLICK 26 to the PM; on Southern Europe: of a shortage of personnel delaying the commissioning of ex-Italian naval units by the Germans, from January 6 to 8; on South-east Europe: that improved anti-submarine weapons are available in the eastern Mediterranean, but are not expected to reduce the rate of shipping losses sufficiently, on January 7 and 8; and that the 2nd Panzer Army is unable, owing to a lack of forces, to take possession of all the Dalmatian islands, on January 7; on the Russian Front: that the 4th Air Fleet complains of a drop in supplies crossing the Russian frontier, on January 9; and of indications that the Germans are preparing to evacuate Uman, which was recently the HQ of the 4th Air Fleet, on January 9.
