Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE report for the Deputy Prime Minister (PM); a BONIFACE report for Mr Loxley; BONIFACE reports from the Code and Cypher School (CSS) signalled to Churchill via Hut 3, on December 29-30; on Southern Europe: on the withdrawal of the front line of the 1st Parachute Division, on December 28; of a steamship being torpedoed off the southern coast of France, on November 28; of further references to the setting up of a parachute army, with the associated recruiting campaign to receive every assistance, on December 28; of railway damage caused in an Allied raid on Rimini, on December 29; five battle reports for December 29; two copies of a signalled report from Hut 3 indicating that the railway line from Bolzano to Innsbruck had been functioning since December 24; two copies of a signalled report from Hut 3 indicating that there were 2000 partisans commanded by Colonel Odello near Piombino with fighting continuing on December 23; on South-east Europe: a German Air Force (GAF) Command situation report including guerrilla activity in Greece, on December 27; that a Croat unit's refusal to obey orders is an illustration of the fighting value of the Croatian Armed Forces, on December 28; and of a steamship being run aground after striking a mine in the northern Adriatic, on December 29; on the Russian Front: of an area in the south-west Baltic being set aside for three months for important trials in collaboration with aircraft, on December 27; and the 4th Air Fleet's situation report for December 27; from the military attaché in Budapest, on Turkey's military situation; and a resumé of the telegrams sent jointly by the military, naval and air attachés in Rome to the Chief of Staff in Madrid from December 4 to 19.
