This file includes the following reports on Germany: an abbreviated air situation report for December 20, noting Allied air raids on Innsbruck, that warehouses and engine sheds have been heavily hit, and that north - south traffic has been stopped; on Southern Europe: a report from the Admiral for the Adriatic for December 19; that Operation PENITENT 2 has been postponed by the 5th SS Mountain Corps for lack of air cover and life jackets; that attempted landings by partisans in the Omis area were beaten off by Ustachis; that although adequate shipping space is available to carry out PENITENT 2, the Commander of the 118th Jaeger Division refused without the replacement of a Siebel ferry; a 2nd Air Fleet ground report for December 20; of the 14th Panzer Corps anticipating a further Allied attack on the front of the right wing of the 29th Panzer Grenadier Division; that the 76th Panzer Corps repulsed weak attacks on the south and north wings; and that the front of the left wing is coming under Allied air attacks; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, describing a meeting with Ribbentrop; and discussions on, inter alia, the Moscow Conference and reactions to it, particularly Chungking's dissatisfaction; intelligence forecasts of either Casablanca or Tehran for the next meeting of the Allied leaders; comments on the progress of the war on the Eastern and Italian fronts; and Japan's victory at Bougainville, on November 30.
