Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Balkans: a report from the 264th Division for December 12, noting that guerrillas are withdrawing on Brstanovo; that Chetniks east of Skradin are hard pressed by a band attacking from the Devrsska area and withdrawing to the south; that a railway track was cut in an air raid on Sibenik; that a heavy air raid on Zara damaged the town and harbour; that the steamship March Bianco was hit by a bomb; and that an auxiliary sailing vessel, the Primo, carrying petrol, was blown up; of the Admiral for the Adriatic seeking higher authority for greater German Air Force (GAF) participation in operation PENITENT, on December 17; and from the Fliegerfuehrer Croatia reporting Allied contacts with Tito, on December 6.
