This file includes the following reports: BONIFACE summaries for the Deputy Prime Minister (PM), Brigadier Jacob and Mr Loxley; on Southern Europe: that the Germans have claimed that so far 1700 Italians and 70 guns had been captured on Samos by November 24; that Hitler demands exceptional care in the selection of junior commanders for Fortress Infantry Battalions which were being formed on Rhodes, on November 20; that Leros is to be the main German naval base in the eastern Aegean and to be strongly defended, on November 18; that the 16th Panzer Division expected a further Allied thrust in the Aventino Valley on November 24; that the German Air Force (GAF) are transferring reconnaissance and ground attack aircraft from Albania to Mostar in southern Yugoslavia for a long operational undertaking, on November 23 - these units were replacing GAF units previously at Mostar which were being sent to Russia, with some fuel and bombs to be transferred from Sarajevo to Mostar; of the Germans having shipping problems after abandoning Krk Island, south of Fiume; that an Allied air raid destroys 3 factories in Sofia on November 24; of anti-aircraft reinforcements being rushed to Turin to defend the Fiat Works and the ball-bearing factory there; and DTG 250924Z from C to Special Communications Unit (SCU) Cairo for Gore-Browne and Spencer, reporting additional defences for Turin and difficulties in moving German merchant ships along the southern Adriatic coast; on the Russian Front: of the fuel requirements for Crimea; and that 12,000 tons of fuel are required each month by the German forces in Crimea, with supplies to be sent from Constanta in Romania once Odessa was iced up; on France: of the results of an Allied bombing raid on Toulon, on November 24; and SUNSET report 392 for November 25.
