This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of a shortage of valves for aircraft radio transmission sets due to enemy action against factories, on November 4; that part of the Goering Division is to withdraw during the night of November 4; six reports on fighting on the Italian Front on November 2 and 3; three reports on the withdrawal by the 76th Corps, on November 4; and a report of the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division's withdrawal on November 4; on South-east Europe: that the strained air transport situation is preventing the German Air Force (GAF) from fetching special ammunition from Germany, on November 1; of an operation by the 2nd Panzer Army to eliminate a guerilla HQ, destroying supply depots and interfering with the setting up of a Communist Brigade in Tuzla, on November 3; that the launching of a reinforced concrete ship is to take place at Athens on November 6; that the 3rd SS Panzer Corps requires oil for its allotted Italian tanks, on October 24; of a proposed exchange of untrained for trained transport crews for an operation against Leros, on November 4; that the departure of units for an operation believed to be against Leros has been postponed until November 5; and of the transfer of three aircraft of a reconnaissance unit to Athens in preparation for an operation believed to be against Leros, on November 5; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, forwarding the views of his usual contact on the war situation, as of November 1; and from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, to the German Legation in Dublin, via Washington, reiterating fundamental orders, from Hitler, concerning the need-to-know principle, on October 31.
