Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a BONIFACE report; on South-east Europe: German Air Force (GAF) Command for the South-east reports on Allied raids on Greek airfields, on October 5; and a situation report of operations in Yugoslavia on October 3; on Southern Europe: that Army Group E considers that northern Italy had become a guerrilla area, as of September 28; of the results of an attack by a unit using glider rocket bombs on Allied ships off Cape Tenes, on October 4; that an Allied attack in the Goering Division's sector is expected, on October 6; an Air Fleet II situation report, for October 6; that photographs of the line of resistance B are required for submission to Hitler, on October 6; an Army Group B situation report for October 4; of indications that the 305th Division is moving to Kesselring's area, on October 3; a report for October 4 from the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) South's Chief Quartermaster (QM) giving the total quantities of equipment and supplies that were removed from Corsica, and on the prisoners and equipment removed from southern Italy; a review of the situation on October 4 by the C-in-C South, including the ground situation and the embarkation of the last rearguards from Corsica; that Kesselring thanks Richtofen for his share in the evacuation from Corsica, on October 6; that Hitler expresses his appreciation to those responsible for the successful evacuation of Sardinia and, in turn, Corsica, on October 5; and of a German attack before Termoli being suspended, on October 6; of Allied day and night raids on Frankfurt, Mannheim and other German cities on October 4 and 5; and two copies of a German secret service report from the German Naval Command in Italy, with reference to Italian naval armaments officers to be used in a civilian capacity as engineers, on October 1.
