Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of the 26th Panzer Division's intentions for September 28; the 14th Panzer Corps reports that the Allies are following up the Goering Division between Vesuvius and the Apennines, on September 29; the Goering Division's situation report for September 29; a 1st Parachute Division situation report, for September 29; of the 14th Panzer Division's withdrawal continuing according to plan, on September 29; a situation report from Air Command that included the first reported appearance of Spitfires over north Corsica, on September 29; and that Rommel considers that the holding of Elba is unnecessary, on September 25; on South-east Europe: that Hitler orders measures to be taken to protect German Air Force (GAF) units on airfields in the Balkans, from September 26; and that the importance of field flak artillery schools was stressed, again with reference to the shortage of equipment, on September 29; Naval Headlines; SHARK, reporting success on September 27 and 28; and a list of names of American prisoners of war from the battle of Salerno, on September 30.
