Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: SHARK, for September 25; on South-east Europe: that the German Air Force (GAF) Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC in C) for the Southeast orders that Italians fighting against the Germans are to be treated as they deserve, on September 21; Naval Headlines, covering the measures to be taken after a successful British attack on naval pens; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, giving the views of Admiral Doenitz on plans for the future of the U-boat campaign, on September 24; from the Bulgarian minister in Budapest, that the Hungarian Chief of Staff (COS) was reprimanded by Hitler for demanding the recall of Hungarian divisions from the Soviet Union, on September 25; from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Belgrade and other stations, forwarding Hitler's instructions on the treatment of Italian soldiers, on September 24; and Naval Headlines 813 for September 25; with the Prime Minister's (PM's) query on U-boats, and the Vice Chief of Naval Staff's (VCNS') reply.
