Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: reports from the Salerno front, on September 21; of the German Air Force's (GAF's) operational orders for September 23, with reference to an Allied penetration; of the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division being identified in the northern end of the Gulf of Gaeta, on September 21; that the 16th Panzer Division is the 14th Corps' Reserve, on September 22; and of the 10th Army taking counter-measures to recapture British prisoners who escaped from the Ancona area, on September 22; on Northern Europe: that the Airforce Commander for the Lofotens gives the operational intentions for a battle group in the northern waters, on September 22; and on Northern Europe: of a further attempt to destroy the Turpitz, on September 22.
