Description
A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of operations in the Salerno area, on September 20; the 1st Parachute Division's situation report for September 20; of the results of an air-raid on Bastia, on Corsica, on September 21; and Italian reports indicate that from 14000 to 15000 English prisoners escaped between Ancona and Pescara, armed with Italian arms, on September 20; a German naval situation report for all areas, for September 20; on South-east Europe: the German Air Force (GAF) in Croatia's situation report for September 17; the 10th Air Corps' situation report for September 19; and that a midget submarine was destroyed inside the Turpitz's net-barrage, with four Englishmen being taken prisoner, on September 22.
